This pattern is virtually identical to the regular issue. The only real differences are the higher date placement on the obverse and the ribbon ends are broader and touch the dentils. The famous Eliasberg collection actually had an example of this representing the 1865 date. It is illustrated above.

Examples were struck as follows:

Nickel J410/P481 with just over a dozen known.

Copper J411/P482 with just over a dozen known.

Aluminum J412/P483 which appears to be unique and hasn't been seen since the April 1892 Woodside collection. Michael Bourne believes that this piece is actually a misdescription of J414A/P486.
